San Francisco - Flash Fishing Report - Mon, 14 Aug 2006

Post by Bob Fisher » Wed Sep 06, 2006 2:08 am

Back home after 3 days of fishing.
We fished the bay on Friday and it was very slow.
This was the first trip this season were I returned home with a dry
box, Ouch!!! Saturday I
had the same charter ( crew ) I had the last GGC WON derby. We started
at Dux and we were the
2nd boat there. The conditions were not as fishey as I had hoped so I
tacked northwest. When we
got about 3 miles up the line the conditions looked much better. I
trolled a 1.5 mile streach
in 50 feet along the coast. We grinded this line the whole day until
12:30 and then headed in.
It was a slow but steady pick. the best depth was 36 feet and wmn apex
was the top producer.We
hooked 12 fish and 7 to the boat with 5 in the box to 30 lbs ( 29.8 ) W
O N scale.The top fish
was landed on a wmn apex by John Couch and took 1st place, $9,000 cash
and prizes.We were a
happy bunch and I wanted to celebrate with my crew but I had a charter
the next morning.But it
was great!
The next morning I was back on the boat after 3 hours sleep.
I had a charter with only 4.One fisherman is a 13 year old boy that had
never been salt water
fishing before.I started were we left off the day before and the
conditions were off.
I talked to a few fishing the dux area and no fish yet so I decided to
search until the bite
would start.I found the conditions I had the day before on the 40 ft
line.We started to fish
for salmon and after an hour, with no bites, I gave my crew the option
to light tackel live
bait the coast line and wait for the salmon bite to start. I made the
move right in to the
coast line above Dux reef. We fished the coast the whole day as the
salmon never turned on.
The 13 year old was the top stick! Ian had a limit of lings to 22lbs,a
limit of stripers to
14lbs, 8 lb halibut and some rockies. Over all it was a great day.
5 keeper lings to 22 lbs
5 halibut 3 in the box to 22 lbs
7 stripers 5 in the box 14,14,16,18 and 27 lbs
4 sea trout
And some nice rockies, we were putting the average rockies back because
of the other fish.
I will be back on the water Friday.
Enjoy the photos, I have a good shot of Johns 1st place fish attached.
