Boat name sticker removal

Got a fishing boat you've worked on or are still working on... Bought a new fishing boat and want to share your pride and joy with others? (or just brag!)

Boat name sticker removal

Post by Buddah » Tue Nov 06, 2007 1:12 am

Hi all,

hope someone can help me with this.

I'm having trouble removing the old boat name and rego number stickers from my boat. The sticker keeps breaking as i try to peel it off, very frustrating and will take a month to do.

I dont want to use a scraper as the ali hull is painted. Is there a product or method to use that makes it a little easier?

Hopefully someone with some backgroud in sign writing or has just done it before can reply to this.

Thanks

Buddah

Boat Sticker Removal

I recently read that a hair-dryer softens the sticker. Used in conjunction with a plastic scraper it apparently makes the job a lot easier. Alcohol on a rag removes the remaining residue (gum).

"CO contact cleaner", by CRC works a treat....
"Prepsol" if you know a spray painter.

Have a steady supply of contact cleaner so will give it a go after the hairdryer attempt.
