Dodge Ram Headlight Removal/Dim Headlights/Replace Bulbs

Post by Bob Fisher » Fri Jul 14, 2006 4:32 am

The headlights were totally inadequate, possibly even dangerous. So I went to Kragen's today and purchased a set of SYLVANIA Silverstar 9006 and 9007 high performance bulbs for the high/low beam and fog lights. The bulbs in the fog lights took merely minutes to replace. The headlights are a totally different proposition. The (inner) two front screws that secured the headlamp unit to the radiator frame were easy to access, not so with the (outer) lower screw concealed between the headlamp assembly and fiberglass bumper. It's a narrow fit and the screw is way back in there. I'm going to have to purchase a long, thin handled tool to get at it. I hope to be able to do that tomorrow. Preliminary testing of the fog lights in the driveway tonight showed a remarkable difference in illumination.

I saw an F250 Power Stroke diesel today with a rear window sticker that read: "Stroke it don't Ram it" ha ha ha what a laugh!

HOLD THE PRESS! Since I wrote this I have been through two sets of SYLVANIA SILVERSTARS!

They keep burning out. The same thing has been happening to a guy I work with (and his are in a Mitsubishi Montero).

I have since bought Brite Lites from Napa Auto Parts, we'll see how they go...

Which?

Post by Islander » Wed Jan 16, 2008 1:44 pm

those kinda lights
Which ones the first or the second?

Can understand if its the first, wouldn't wanna poke anyones eye out with those glass cutters!

For the Second type - We usually wire up half a dozen sets with progressive switches for extra numbers as they come on.

1. Melts Tar at 50 yards
2. Melts Tar at 100 Yards
3. Boils Retinal blood at 500 yards
4. Starts small scrub fires in neighboring states!
5. Xray Vision Thru Solid Steel
6. Lights up the Space Station
7. Lights Up Other Galaxies

Can't imagine not being able to use these in the long lonely stretches at night - but then again with 200 million people I guess not many stretches of road are lonely huh?

Gotta love the outback!

Headlights and Big Spotlights

Post by Bob Fisher » Wed Jan 16, 2008 2:38 pm

Both spotlights are required to be covered by law here...

200 million people? I think it's more like 350 million...
The state of California has 1 1/2 times the population of Australia
Yes, I miss my old days driving in the South West, the North West, the Pilbara... roo bars and spotlights....
roo bars and spotlights

Still legal? Same/different rules for the city/country? Still called roo bars, or is that not politically correct?

What's the latest?

p.s. and I agree with Leith, that's a nice looking reel
