Latest Port Hedland Fishing Reports

by Shane Baker

Recently I have been doing a bit more creek fishing and as a result have had a few good hookups on Barra.

There are a few Mangrove jack to be had and the odd Salmon hanging around too.

Last trip saw me with a few cod which are excellent eating. I was able to bag four mud crabs after about 4 hours and four pulls of the pots.

My conclusion is that the lack of moon has slowed things down a bit.

Going Mulloway fishing this week so hopefully there will be good reports to follow.

Gday Poddy,

Welcome to the forum.

Sounds like your "spot" is a good one.
Was that land based or boat, cmon you can tell us that much.
Some of my friends have been doing very well at 6 mile and 12 mile of late but I hear pokie and Tabba are really firing.

I have yet to bag a Barra in Hedland but have had plenty of hookups in last few weeks.
Get some pics and post them on the site or send em to me and I can do it for ya.

Cant wait till weekend.

Giant Port Hedland Sawfish Capture

by Shane Baker

Went out in the harbour last night and landed another nice Mulla.

It weighed in at 11.5kg and measured just short of 1100cm. :D

Also caught a twelve foot saw fish. :o :D

Got a few pics but couldnt get it in the boat so theyre not too good.

Needless to say I let it go but I just cant believe the things I catch up here.

Last month I caught a 10ft Thresher shark in the same spot. :o

Im always interested in pics.

I can put them in the SFW gallery and use them for the NW Telegraph article.

You can send them to me if you have them on your computer

If not I can scan them in to my computer and return them the next day.

I work at BHP so we could meet there.

Spent a few hours out in the harbour again tonight but only landed sharks. They were thick. Took two nice ones about a meter long for my neighbor.

Mulla v quiet tonight.

Oh well cant catch em every night hey!

Going to twelve mile for a land fish due to lack of a decky for the tinny tomorrow so hopefully I will have stories of Barra and Salmon to tell.

Twelve mile was interesting.

I landed another dirty big sawfish and a few sharks.

Dropped a nice Barra as the tide turned but had no real action other than that.

Went out in the harbour that night and landed a 25lb Mulla and a few more sharks.

Also caught a nice cod which was nice for a late night fishy snack.
