Beach and Rock Event Yanchep - Lancelin Beacons

Post by Ross Compe » Sun Aug 07, 2016 7:16 am

Weather was the enemy for fishos during the July beach and rock event held between Yanchep and the Lancelin Beacons.
So dificult were the conditions that winner Mr Malcom Cruickshank had to give the fishing away around 8pm.
None the less the competition produced the winner with 3 nice Tailor for an aggregate weight of 1.7 kgs.
Well done!!

Seabird Secrets

Post by Ross Compe » Fri Jun 23, 2017 12:35 pm

The secrets from Seabird and the sustained run of Pink Snapper from the shore continue to filter through to your desk bound angler.sob, sob, sniffle, :( :( .
A couple of months ago word arrived from my reliable Yanchep source that a fellow work mate nabbed several Pink Snapper in his Kayak only 30 metres from the rocks north of the tavern in the early afternoon.
More reports from gun anglers W. Drage and J Beniman continue the trend only a couple of weeks ago.
Wayne managed to win his club beach and rock competition with an aggregate bag of 12kgs that included 2 Pink Snapper of 5.7 kgs and 4.8kgs,2 Tailor and 1 Herring.
John Beniman was runner up with a smaller Pinkie of around 3kgs,1 Skippy,1 Herring and a Wirrah for a bag weight of just over 4kgs.
A Go Anywhere event had both the anglers retreating further north to the beaches of Jurien Bay as the the dreaded weed made angling at Seabird too difficult but ,unfortunately, to no avail.
I likes Snapper

Yanchep North Pinkies

Post by Ross Compe » Thu Jul 13, 2017 8:06 am

A bold Mark Sinclair managed a couple of small fish in trying conditions north of Yanchep last weekend.
It was tough going for anyone in those conditions in between the wind and weed
Interestingly Mark managed a slightly undersize Pink Snapper that spat the hooks when he came over the reef ledge that he was fishing.
We think Mark was fishing around the Dewars Reef area.
Here is a pic of Mark at Caves,Cape Cuvier with that awesome Bone Fish he took up there a wee while ago.
I didn't get no Bone fish Mark, in fact Bobby Fisher our web master had to travel to Bermuda for that species...
